Where the reputation holds up

LG reliability by appliance type

Laundry sits at the centre of LG’s current reliability case. I would shortlist the front-load washers without using that decision as an excuse to match the refrigerator automatically.

Refrigeration has stronger recent satisfaction than its internet reputation suggests. The service route remains less even, which makes the local market part of the verdict.

What was actually measured

The evidence behind the LG reputation

Yale Appliance recorded a 5.5 percent LG first-year service rate in 2026, close to one call for every eighteen units sold in its service area. The report says laundry provides much of that result.

LG led J.D. Power’s clothes-dryer satisfaction ranking and placed second for front-load washers. The brand also won its French-door and side-by-side refrigerator segments, a useful recent-owner signal rather than a lifespan table.

What happens when a technician is needed

LG service becomes less consistent away from larger markets. Check who accepts warranty work, then ask whether independent shops will touch the same model after the plan ends.

A good fit when

  • Front-load laundry buyers who want large capacity.
  • Homes with a confirmed LG service option.

Think twice when

  • Local technicians regularly decline LG work.
  • Ice features are driving the refrigerator choice more than the cooling layout.

A company average is a rough first filter. Each page below fixes the appliance type, then looks at the public evidence and the repair trade that matters most.

Different studies answer different questions

Early service cannot promise year ten.

Dealer service rates describe repair demand during the first year in one market. Satisfaction studies capture recent ownership. We use both as signals and refuse to quietly turn either one into a survival table.
